Gratitude

Who is robbing your joy?

February 7, 2026

Some mornings the Lord will wake me up super early. On this Saturday morning it was one of those days.

Most of the time when he wakes me it is because I need to manage something, pray or get a jump start on the day. Today it was different.

I woke up with a spirit of gratitude. A spirit of freedom and peace. You see last night I spent some time with my adopted spiritual mother. We went to a movie, dinner and she blessed me with some gifts. I woke up this morning with a spirit of gratitude for the blessing she is in my life.

However, if I am honest, it has been a tough 1.5 years. I have been sick, I have had business challenges, relational challenges and just exhausted from life. Often, I have been so focused on the battle that I have not been counting my blessings.

As I was taking the time this morning to write my friend and adopted mother a letter this morning, I am convinced that there are more things to be joyous about in my life than bad. God wants me and all of us to enjoy life. The enemy does not.

If the enemy can stop us from enjoying what God is doing in our lives he succeeds. That is why we must put on focus on the good things and open our eyes each day to what God is doing and has blessed us with.

Today, I realize I am grateful and chose to enjoy life. Although this past year has been tough, there have also been so many blessings. My adopted mom is one of them.

Today, I chose to enjoy the life God has given me even though things are not perfect at this very moment. I believe that God can make all things new and if I put my focus on the good, the enemy will be defeated.

What are the good things in your life that you can enjoy? Focus on those. If you do this, you will find your focus will begin to shift off the bad. As I do this today, my whole attitude has changed. I pray the same happens for you.

Philippians 4:8 says "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about those things." Practice this today and watch your enjoyment shift. Have a blessed day!
